Dubai’s leading toll operator, Salik, has announced its first-ever expansion outside the emirate by partnering with Parkonic, a private parking operator managing 107 locations across the UAE.
Under a five-year agreement, Parkonic will integrate Salik as the preferred payment option for its parking services. This partnership will enable seamless, AI-powered parking solutions for over 135,000 parking spaces starting from the first quarter of 2025.
Key Features of the Partnership
- Seamless Parking Payments: Motorists can use their Salik eWallet for parking transactions at Parkonic locations, eliminating the need for additional apps.
- Advanced AI Technology: Parkonic uses automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to monitor entry and exit, with fees deducted directly from the Salik account.
- Wide Coverage: Locations include Global Village, The Beach – JBR, and Central Park in Dubai; prominent spots in Abu Dhabi like Arc Towers and Marsa Al Bateen; and popular destinations in Sharjah, Fujairah, and Khorfakkan.
Driving Smart City Innovation
Salik CEO Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad highlighted the partnership as a milestone for the company:
“This collaboration enables advanced parking payment solutions across the UAE while leveraging Salik’s technology to expand beyond tolling. It reflects our commitment to supporting smarter urban living and generating ancillary revenue growth.”
Parkonic CEO Imad Alameddine echoed this vision, emphasizing the benefits for UAE residents:
“By aligning with Salik, we’re setting new standards for convenience, efficiency, and sustainability. This partnership supports the UAE’s goal of becoming a global leader in smart city initiatives.”
How It Works
- App Integration: Motorists download the Parkonic app, register their vehicles, and link their Salik account.
- Hassle-Free Transactions: Upon entering a parking area, the system captures the vehicle’s license plate, and fees are deducted automatically upon exit.
- Expense Tracking: The AI-powered system provides users with a summary of their weekly or monthly parking expenses.
Non-Parkonic users can still access parking services by paying through other methods before exiting.
A Step Toward Smarter Mobility
This collaboration reinforces the UAE’s commitment to smart mobility solutions, enhancing urban convenience while supporting the vision of a connected and sustainable future.
