Sammy Hagar’s Latest Success at Barrett-Jackson Auction
Rock star Sammy Hagar, known for his passion for both music and business, sold his custom 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The rare supercar, originally purchased for $1.4 million, fetched an astounding $4.25 million, significantly exceeding expectations.
A Rare LaFerrari with a Unique Touch
Hagar’s Ferrari LaFerrari is one of only 499 ever produced and was customized with a rare creamy cappuccino color. The car’s carbon-fiber steering wheel even features Hagar’s initials and birth date, making it a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle. The supercar is powered by a 950-horsepower hybrid engine that can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.
Mixed Emotions During the Auction
During the bidding war, Hagar experienced conflicting emotions, saying, “Do I really want to do this? Seller’s remorse and all.” But once the gavel came down and the car was sold, he met the new owner and was pleased with the outcome, describing the buyer as someone who would “preserve and take care of the legacy” of the iconic car.
A Record-Breaking Sale
Hagar’s LaFerrari set a new record for the 2015 model, surpassing the previous highest price of $3.91 million. The car’s rarity and custom features made it a standout at the auction, where other vehicles like a 2019 Ford GT ($880,000) and a 1971 Ferrari GTB/4 Daytona Coupe ($506,000) were also sold, but for much lower prices.
A Businessman at Heart
While the LaFerrari sale was a major financial win, it’s not Hagar’s biggest. His most notable business move remains the $100 million sale of his Cabo Wabo tequila brand to Gruppo Campari. Hagar has since launched other ventures, including Santo Tequila with chef Guy Fieri and Red Rocker Brewing Company.
Looking Ahead: Cabo Wabo Resort & Casino
Hagar recently hinted at plans for a future Cabo Wabo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. During a concert in the city, he said, “I’ve got plans… this is the town I want to do it in. If not here, I’ll find another one.”
Continuing to Rock the Stage
In addition to his business ventures, Hagar is still active in music. He’s set to perform at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony alongside fellow stars like Slash and Demi Lovato in a tribute to the legendary band Foreigner.
